Come and discover the diversity of lichens that exist in Ireland, one of the longest living organisms on the planet, and understand how nature has put them together. With over 1,100 species in Ireland, you will attain an insight into how they reproduce, how they live on the surfaces of various substrates such as wood and rock and the important role they play in an ecosystem. A particular focus will be paid to lichen species found in woodland habitats which will prepare participants for a field practical in Fota Wildlife Park.
