This workshop provides an introduction to Ireland’s wasps. During this workshop we will look at the features used to identify Ireland’s wasp species, as well as their life cycles, habitats and where to find them. The main focus will be on socia and solitary wasps. This will be followed by a visit to a local nature reserve to search for wasps and test your identification skills! This workshop is suitable for beginners and those wishing to refresh their knowledge.
Clothing: Sturdy walking boots or wellingtons. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring a hat and sunglasses.
Health & Safety: Please be mindful that this workshop includes an element of teaching outdoors. Warm waterproof clothing and good walking footwear are essential. As a rule of thumb, it is generally expected that any participants who sign up for a workshop that involves spending time in the outdoors will own and bring the appropriate outdoor clothing. A risk assessment for this event has been completed and participants are asked to listen carefully to the safety briefings that are delivered on the day.
