Do you want to train for the BC Games 2020. We are hosting an introduction to IGNITE™. Come out and see if this is for you.
The goal of the IGNITE™ Athlete Development program is to provide training and foundational movement skills for future elite Canadian athletes in the Train to Train stage of Canada`s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD). These skills have been deemed important for long term athlete development as they provide the building blocks for future movement development and physical preparation. The curriculum is divided into three main movement streams consisting of strength training, gymnastics and sprint training.
This curriculum is laid out to provide key skills within each of the three movement streams that athletes must look to develop over the course of their participation in the IGNITE™ program. Along with these key skills, trouble shooting tips to common movement problems and variations of each skill are provided.
The Program includes Strength and Conditioning sessions in Pomeroy Sports Centre Performance Gym to further enhance the Athlete's speed, balance, co-ordination and conditioning.
***ALL APPLICATION FORMS (downloaded on the Engage Sport North Website) MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE REGISTRATION IS CONSIDERED COMPLETE. Please email scanned completed forms to Mandi graham before start of first session at mgraham@engagesportnorth.com
Every Tuesday and Thursday weight room session will start with a 5-10 minute dynamic warm-up with a variety of activation exercises that will be a progression of movements to build the foundation for all exercises done in the weight room and in the athlete's sport. The variety of activation exercises will help compliment various acceleration/deceleration, change of direction and agility skills. The weight room session will be based on primary sport movements with body weight movements and resistance exercises that will not affect the growing skeleton of this age range. Each session will conclude with a cool-down period of stretching and foam rolling.
