Improving Access to Substance Use & Mental Health Care for Rural Residents
This Community Conversation is being presented free for social workers, their clients, and the general public.
It is not CEU eligible.
Access to best practices for substance use and mental health care among residents of rural and underserved communities.
Access to best practices for substance use and mental health care among residents of rural and underserved communities is challenged by a shortage of local healthcare facilities and providers. Telehealth represents one solution to expand access, yet familiarity among social workers about technology-based treatments and their research support for clients outcomes and preferences remain limited. This conversation will provide tips for social workers looking to develop or expand their use of telehealth services as a means of improving access to substance use and mental health care in rural and underserved areas.
Presenters: Jamey Lister, PhD, MSW, Assistance Professor, Rutgers University School of Social Work and Michael Chaple, PhD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
