This course will offer participants a basic understanding of the extent of the problem of youth firesetting, why children and youth misuse fire, and specific interventions used by a Youth Set Fire Interventionist / Mental Health Practioner  The information provided in this specific training is derived from the National Fire Academy (NFA) curriculum and Clinical Interventions designed for those working with children and youth involved in the Child Welfare system. The course will be interactive, and participants will have an opportunity to identify "typologies" of the firesetting behavior and interventions based on the child's individual needs in the environment in which the youth or child lives.
