Presenter: Lorie Yates (RCSD Science Specialist)

Description:  This is a half-day session that will focus on the layout of the new science framework for Kindergarten and 1st grade.  We will explore the three dimensions of the new framework (science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas) and learn how these dimensions work together in an elementary science setting.  I will also provide a resource guide that will help kindergarten and 1st grade teachers in planning for the integration of the new science standards in their lessons.  We will also explore the use of Gizmos (online science simulations) in the lower elementary classroom.
