Litigation Academy: "Oral Advocacy in Court"
The United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, in partnership with the Roger Williams University School of Law and the Rhode Island Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, is proud to announce the fourteenth program in its Litigation Academy.
The program will take place at the federal courthouse and will provide hands-on training and lectures from December 20 - December 21, 2022. This is a unique opportunity for participants to learn the art of effective oral argument with constructive critiques by judges and experienced trial lawyers and professional actors serving as witnesses.
The schedule for the program is as follows:
Tuesday, December 20:
1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. Oral Arguments in four courtrooms (Judge Smith, Judge McElroy and Judge Stern)
Wednesday, December 21:
2:00 p.m. Ethics Lecture
3:00 p.m. Panel Discussion (Judge Smith, Judge McElroy and Judge Stern)
4:00 p.m. Post-Program Reception
4.5 CLE (including 1.0 ethics credit) credits will be available. The cost of the program is $300. Some partial scholarships are available based on financial hardship from the Rhode Island Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. If you would like to apply for such a scholarship, please write separately to Steven Richard (srichard@nixonpeabody.com) with a brief description of the nature of your law practice and a request to be considered for a scholarship.
