Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania, 337 Fourth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA , 15222, United States.
The Louisville & Indiana Railroad (LIRC) required replacement of Bridge 40.19 over the Flatrock River in Columbus, Indiana to upgrade the level of service along the line. The existing through truss structures were in deteriorated condition and within the 100-year flood elevation. A four-day outage including a bridge slide-in was planned for the bridge change out. The new bridge was designed to facilitate the aggressive schedule and to minimize the track outage during construction. In addition to the bridge replacement, improvements included raising the track profile 5-feet to provide the low bridge chord 1-foot freeboard above the Q100 flood elevation.
A buffet will be provided and accompanied by rolls, butter, coffee service, iced tea, and cookies and brownies.
