The SHM Michigan Chapter will be holding its next meeting in person on Tuesday, September 10th at 6:00p.m. ET at 3 different locations across the state. Please join the chapter at a location convenient to meet and network with other clinicians in your local area. The educational presentation will be streamed from Ann Arbor to the venues in Grand Rapids and Bay Harbor. 

Dr. Tom George, CEO of Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS), will be sharing information regarding MSMS's advocacy work in CPOM, non-compete clauses, practice issues, payment issues, liability and public health issues. Joshua Lapps, SHM National's Director of Policy and Practice Management, will also provide a brief presentation on Society of Hospital Medicine's recent advocacy initiatives.

Tom George is the CEO of the Michigan State Medical Society. He was a practicing anesthesiologist in Kalamazoo for 38 years. For a decade he served as Co-Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker School of Medicine. Tom is a former legislator and represented the Kalamazoo area in both the state House and Senate. While serving in the legislature he chaired the Senate Health Policy Committee and authored over forty public acts. He is a past-president of the Historical Society of Michigan, the Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Kalamazoo Academy of Medicine. His articles have appeared in The New England Journal of Medicine, The Journal of the American Medical Association, The Journal of the Abraham Lincoln Association, The Michigan Historical Review, and Michigan History Magazine.
