In today’s changing and challenging environment, health equity in the community remains an unaddressed crisis with fewer resources and tools to empower communities. This Mindful Eating for the Beloved Community book signing event hosted by BCA Global provides diverse communities with a thoughtful and engaging way to understand how and what we eat. The event will include an introduction to mindfulness and meditation, a mindful meal, Mindful Eating Book Q&A and book signing with authors.
Mindful Eating is a transformative program that uses powerful storytelling and culinary exercises to highlight the positive impact of mindfulness and nutrition. Created by a diverse group of chefs, nutritionists, and food activists, the program offers pragmatic strategies to rebuild the connections between diet, culture, faith, the environment and community well-being, with a focus on the deep connection between mindful eating, social justice and sustainability.

BCA Global is a non-profit culinary, foodservice and educational membership organization. Our mission is to create awareness, exposure and career advancing opportunities for people of color within the culinary industry. We are the only organization that advocates equity in the largest industry in America. We connect young culinary, hospitality and aspiring foodservice professionals with a network of career opportunities within the industry. We also provide much-needed advocacy for equity within all aspects of foodservice. This not only includes career opportunities but also the conversations around the standards necessary for someone of color to be successful in the largest industry in America. The end goal is supporting diversity from a social-economic perspective. We encourage young people to explore the world of culinary arts and hospitality through formal training, professional networking and mentoring. We encourage open discussions about diversity and cultural awareness with hiring managers with the objective of starting engaging conversations through a racial equity lens.
