Understanding the legislative process is vital for social workers. Our ethical responsibility to be advocates often requires contacting legislators to discuss issues and solutions effecting our profession, our communities, and our clients. This one hour interview, produced by the NASW-OK Student Board Representatives, Joshua Knowles from Oral Roberts University Department of Social Work, and Jonathan Wales, from the OU Anne & Henry Zarrow School of Social Work, features a one hour interview with Oklahoma State Senator, Julia Kirk.
Learning Objectives for participants include;
1. How to approach and speak to a legislator.
2. Identify tips to ensure a successful discussion with a legislator.
3. Follow Up: Is it important? How should it be done.
