About the Course

Our online NERC CIP Audit Prep+ is a combination of self-study and online, instructor-led review and discussion. This format combines the best aspects of our live, in-person training with the flexibility of an online format.

The NERC CIP Audit Preparation course provides entity personnel with an understanding of compliance oversight practices employed by the ERO. This includes a detailed explanation of the audit process from preparation, to execution, to post-audit negotiations. Attendees will obtain an understanding of the NERC Rules of Procedures (RoP), Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program (CMEP), Inherent Risk Assessments (IRA), Internal Controls Evaluation (ICE), and the audit process as documented in the ERO Auditors Handbook. RSAW and evidence preparation and presentation will also be discussed.

This course may be taken as a stand-alone course or as part of our C3P credential which signifies competence in all aspects of managing compliance with the NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards.To learn more or to register for the credential, visit our website, energysec.org, in the Events tab.

Brent Castagnetto brings over 13 years of Information Security expertise to Archer Energy Solutions. During his 6 years as Manager of Cyber Security Audits at the nations largest Regional Entity (WECC), Mr. Castagnetto played an integral role in developing the CIP audit approach nationwide. Mr. Castagnetto’s leadership was instrumental in driving significant changes to the TFE process and the NERC Rules of Procedure. During his time at WECC, Mr. Castagnetto also served as co-chair of the Compliance Monitoring Functional Group (CMFG) and on several other committees. Mr. Castagnetto’s expertise covers regulatory compliance and information security of both the financial services and energy sectors. Prior to joining WECC, Mr. Castagnetto worked as a Security Architect, and later a Senior Sales Engineer, where he successfully implemented large-scale infrastructure projects and managed teams of security professionals. Mr. Castagnetto also has experience administering enterprise network, security, and server infrastructure for several large financial institutions and Fortune 500 companies. Brent attended Utah Valley University and holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification as well as the Certified Business Resilience Manager (CBRM), Certified Business Resilience Auditor (CBRA) certifications.
