This 5 hours per day 4-day, instructor-led program combines interactive online sessions with supplementary self-study materials, creating an engaging and in-depth learning experience. Taught by industry experts Steve Parker and Leonard Chamberlin III, this course is ideal for professionals seeking a detailed understanding of NERC CIP standards and their practical application.

  • Resource Library: Receive one-year access to an online repository of reference materials and recorded deep-dive videos (under development).

  • In-Person Opportunity: Online registrants may attend an in-person class within 12 months of purchase and access the On-Demand course for added flexibility.

 

CPE Credit

Participants will earn 24 CPE credits upon course completion. Certificates of completion will be provided as documentation for professional education requirements. Attendees should verify whether this course meets the criteria for their certifications.

Steven Parker, CISA, CISSP, is a founding director of EnergySec. He has been engaged in critical infrastructure protection within the electric sector for more than 22 years, including eight years as a senior security staff member at a large west coast utility. He was also one of the original NERC CIP auditors for the WECC region. He has been with EnergySec full-time since 2010.

Leonard Chamberlin is a seasoned security consultant who has been in the industry since 1998. He has extensive experience in large-scale digital network engineering and cyber and physical security focused on Industrial Control Systems for the electric industry. He has performed hands-on implementation of effective cyber and physical security controls in a vertically-integrated utility, including field networks, substation automation, and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance. As a consultant for Entergy, Mr. Chamberlin was responsible for design, procurement, configuration, installation, monitoring, maintenance, documentation, change management, disaster recovery, and NERC CIP compliance of their IP-based substation communications and EMS network. Mr. Chamberlin previously completed five years of service as an Energy Industry Analyst for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). He served as technical lead auditor on CIP audits, network architecture reviews, investigations, and NERC notice of penalties teams. He was team-lead for FERC-involvement in the development of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity framework (CSF) as well as the Federal Smart Grid Task Force (SGTF).
