Dr. Hajifathalian is an Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) and the director of advanced and therapeutic endoscopy at Rutgers University Hospital. Dr. Hajifathalian obtained his medical degree at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He received his master of public health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health, where he worked as a visiting scientist focusing on obesity related research. Dr. Hajifathalian completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic and his subspecialty training in gastroenterology and hepatology at Cornell University New York-Presbyterian hospital. He subsequently completed his fellowship in advanced and therapeutic endoscopy at Cornell University. Dr. Hajifathalian has published many peer-reviewed research papers in prestigious medical journals and has regularly presented his work in national and international meetings. His research findings have been cited more than 13,000 times in the medical literature. His clinical and research interests include obesity and its complications, including fatty liver disease, and minimally invasive endoscopic weight loss procedures.
Dr. Jamil Shah is an advanced endoscopy fellow and gastroenterology attending physician at University Hospital in Newark, NJ, the principal teaching hospital of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Before that, he completed medical school at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY, where he served as Chief Resident and Chief Fellow. He also completed an additional Hepatology Fellowship at University Hospital in Newark, NJ. He is passionate about Interventional Gastroenterology, and his clinical interests include diseases of the pancreaticobiliary system and the liver.
