Pain & Wound Management Course
This Pain & Wound Management Course from the IWRC is designed to give veterinary professionals and wildlife rehabilitation professionals a working knowledge of the vocabulary and concepts underlying the modern approach to pain and wound management in mammalian and avian species.
It is a specialist course limited to an intimate group of twenty delegates. It is specifically for those who have already attended the IWRC Basic Wildlife Rehabilitation Course, and/or experienced wildlife rehabilitators.
The IWRC www.theiwrc.org are the leading developers of professional training for wildlife care providers in North America and internationally. This course is an opportunity to sample the quality of rehabilitation training opportunities that are provided by the IWRC. The IWRC offers both classroom and online based training in aspects such as wildlife nutrition, parasitology, pain management and basic wildlife rehabilitation.
Lecture topics include: Physiology and clinical signs of pain, Supportive care techniques, Drug therapy including indications, contraindications and side effects, A systematic review of the physiology and treatment of the most common types of soft-tissue wounds seen in injured mammalian and avian species.Practical topics include:Wound assessment, Wound types, Antibiotic therapy, Cleaning and topical agents, Bandaging techniques, Physiology and stages of wound healing.
This course has been accredited by the Veterinary Council of Ireland for 11 CVE credits

Cancellation policy 1.) If a registrant is unable to attend the course for any reason they may substitute, by arrangement with the registrar, another person who is interested in attending. 2.) Where a registrant is unable to attend, and is not in a position to transfer his/her place to another person, then the following refund policy will apply: a. Registrations cancelled in writing with more than 30 days notice before the course will be issued with a voucher to the full value paid, which can be redeemed on any of our subsequent courses, conferences or events. b. Registrations cancelled in writing between 7 and 30 days notice before the course will be issued with a voucher to the value of 50% of the registration fee paid, which can be redeemed on any of our subsequent courses, conferences or events. c. Registrations cancelled in writing with less than 7 days notice before the course will be issued with a voucher to the value of 25% of the registration fee paid, which can be redeemed on any of our subsequent courses, conferences or events. d. If a registrant has to leave the course at any point once it has begun, they will not be eligible for a refund or a voucher. In the unlikely event that the course is cancelled, a full refund will be issued to the registrant. Refunds will be made in the following way: 1.) For payments received by paypal, the same account will be credited. 2.) For payments received by bank draft, cheque or postal order, a cheque will be sent payable to the original payee.
