This program, when attended in its entirety, offers 1.5 CEs for Psychologists, 1.5 IL CEUS for Counselors and Social Workers,  1.5 BBS California CEUs for LPCCs, LPSW, and LMFTs, 1.5 NASP CPDs for School Psychologists, 1.5 ISBE professional development hours for IL school psychologists and educators, , 1.5 NBCC Clock Hours for National Board Counselors 

 

Workshop Description:

 

These workshops (offering the same content to two distinct attendee groups) builds upon the content provided in Part 1 on March 8th, 2023,which provides an introduction to healing centered engagement. This socially just, strength-based, and culturally responsive framework seeks to enhance empathy and personal investment in change while centering culture as a central component in wellbeing. 

Each of the 90-minute in-person workshops will provide attendees (i.e., students and mental health professionals) with opportunities to meaningfully engage with the information learned from the first part of the workshop series. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in experiential activities, healing circles, and group activities designed to enhance culturally sensitive worldviews, promote collective healing, enhance ethnic identity, cultivate resilience, and decolonize mental health perspectives.

Learning Objectives:

After attending this introductory-level workshop, participants will be able to:

    1. use interpersonal practices that apply healing centered engagement and strength-based approaches to wellbeing. 
    2. use intrapersonal practices that apply healing centered engagement and strength-based approaches to wellbeing.   
 

Program Standards and Goals:

This program meets APA’s continuing education standard 1.3: Program content focuses on topics related to psychological practice, education, or research other than application of psychological assessment and/or intervention methods that are supported by contemporary scholarship grounded in established research procedure

This program meets APA’s continuing education goal 3: Program will allow psychologists to maintain, develop, and increase competencies in order to improve services to the public and enhance contributions to the profession.

Psychologists. This program, when attended in its entirety, is available for 2.0 continuing education credits. MFTs, LPCCs, and LCSWs. Course meets the qualifications for 2.0 hour of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. If you are licensed outside of California please check with your local licensing agency to to determine if they will accept these CEUs. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) to offer continuing education programming for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is an accredited or approved postsecondary institution that meets the requirements set forth in Sections 4980.54(f)(1), 4989.34, 4996.22(d)(1), or 4999.76(d) of the Code.

Participation Certificate. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is able to provide students and other participants who simply wish to have documentation of their attendance at the program a participation certificate.

Non Psychologists. Most licensing boards accept Continuing Education Credits sponsored by the American Psychological Association but non-psychologists are recommended to consult with their specific state-licensing board to ensure that APA-sponsored CE is acceptable.

Stacey Diane Arañez Litam (she, her, siya) Ph.D., LPCC-s, NCC, CCMHC, is an Assistant Professor of Counselor Education at Cleveland State University and a licensed professional clinical counselor and supervisor. Dr. Litam is a nationally recognized researcher, speaker, educator, clinical counselor, and social justice advocate on topics related to human sexuality, sex trafficking, diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as Asian and Pacific Islander (API) concerns. She is an immigrant and identifies as a Chinese and Filipina American woman. As a researcher and scholar, Dr. Litam has published over 30 peer-reviewed publications. She has additionally facilitated over 100 presentations for international and national organizations such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), LinkedIn, and Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD). Dr. Litam has served as a content expert on platforms including National Public Radio (NPR), podcasts, media and news outlets, as well as in legislative arenas. With a total of 16 research articles archived in the World Health Organization's global literature database on COVID-19, she is one of the foremost leading researchers on the impact of anti-Asian hate on the mental health of diverse API communities, COVID-19 on sexuality and education, as well as the pandemic's impact on stress, burnout, and moral injury among healthcare workers and mental health professionals.
