All learning depends upon one’s ability to feel safe. Therefore, an environment that provides safe spaces will benefit both youth and staff and will positively impact overall program outcomes. During this session, the Learn All The Time Network team will begin with a short overview of the first of four quality practices from the Learn All The Time Quality Practices Guide, Physically Safe Environment for Youth Programming.
Then, David Simon, the Director of Emergency Management for Austin ISD, will join us to review some core safety program practices. The Emergency Management Department strives to protect students, staff, visitors, and property by coordinating, collaborating, and integrating activities which allow us to better mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters or emergencies within the school district.
