The SHM Piedmont Triad will be hosting an in-person meeting on Thursday, November 14th at 6:30 p.m. ET at Legacy Stable in Winston-Salem, NC. Please join the chapter for networking and for an educational presentation titled "Updates in Hospital Medicine," provided by Drs. TK Luqman and Suma Menon. This event will also feature the chapter's Scientific Abstract Competition where fellows, residents, and medical students will be showcasing their work in research, innovations, and clinical vignettes.

1. Discuss updates and new evidence within the scope of Hospital Medicine Practice

2. Review recent guideline updates and recommendations

3. Identify best practices for common issues in Hospital Medicine

4. Improve the management of common inpatient conditions, including acute decompensated heart failure, pneumonia, sepsis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

The Society of Hospital Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The Society of Hospital Medicine designates this in-person activity for a maximum of 1.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM.  Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Dr. TK Luqman is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in the section of Hospital Medicine at Wake Forest School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency training at AIIMS, New Delhi and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is a passionate inpatient provider and actively involved in Section of Hospital Medicine CME program and Journal Club. He is passionate about teaching diagnostic reasoning and identifying the blind spots in diagnostic reasoning.

Wake Forest School of Medicine
Dr. Suma Menon is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in the Section of Hospital Medicine at Wake Forest School of Medicine. After completing her medical degree in India, she pursued her Internal Medicine residency at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, affiliated with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Currently, she serves as the Chair for Teaching and Education within her section. In addition to this leadership role, she is the Course Director for fourth-year medical students in Internal Medicine and is an active member of the curriculum governance committee at Wake Forest School of Medicine, where she plays a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare education.
