Project Unpackings are an in-depth exploration of structures used to design for deeper learning. Each session is facilitated by a HTH educator and focuses on one or more of the PBL Essentials. This is an interactive workshop in which participants are asked to design, discuss, and reflect. Project Unpackings welcome new and experienced educators.

We are thrilled to welcome Cady Staff Hwang, 6th grade Humanities educator at HTMM. Cady will share the multidisciplinary project, Resiliency Rising. We will dive into how student engagement and interests can inspire a rich exploration of core content in a project.

Resiliency Rising sets out to answer the essential question: How can we recognize, promote and celebrate resilience in ourselves, our community and our environment? We, as a community of all living things, have incredible, inspiring stories of resilience to share and learn. By sharing our stories and learning about each other's stories, we can build a more resilient community together. We are learning about these resilient stories by sharing our Where I'm From poems, interviewing community members, writing spoken word pieces to perform at exhibition and creating artwork. In science, we are exploring the water cycle and the important role our threatened San Diego Wetlands play in providing water filtration, flood protection and unmatched biodiversity. We are learning how we can support and promote the resilience of the people and environment all around us.

HTH K–12Visitor Release

NORMS FOR HTH VISITORS

Follow the “rule of two feet.” Use your two feet to go where you think you will learn something interesting. Please feel free to walk into classrooms and observe.

Ask for help. Ask anyone for help, including staff and students. Every school has a Site Manager at the front desk who can help point you in the right direction.

Be respectful. If you are about to enter a classroom and you notice that four or five visitors are already there, please consider coming back later. Always make sure there are HTH staff present in the room when you interact with students.
