Dr Mary-Rose Shears, General Practitioner and Primary Care Dean for Health Education England, working across South London
Mary-Rose has worked as a General Practitioner for 35 years. For 25 years, she was a GP partner at Seaford Medical Practice, East Sussex where she was educational lead, CQC and information governance lead. Alongside her clinical role, she has had a 20 year involvement in medical education. In her current role as Primary Care Dean, she is responsible for the training of the new workforce in primary care in South London. She ensures there are the relevant staff with the appropriate skills to look after the population health needs of South London. She is particularly interested in supporting educators to prevent their burnout and ensuring training emphasises and addresses health equity.
