The Professional Portraiture Weekend Workshop with Katie Huisman

ACTORS HEADSHOTS/ MODEL PORTFOLIOS/ CORPORATE PORTRAITURE

Photographer Katie Huisman introduces Contemporary Portraiture, a 2-day Intermediate/Advanced workshop. Building on the basics, Katie invites students (maximum 10 students) to move onto next level techniques with lighting and effective subject direction.

In addition to in-class lecture and demo(s), there will be TWO SHOOTING SESSIONS covering lighting styles in both studio & natural lighting situations. Participants will have the opportunity to photograph interesting subjects in a variety of creative situations with the intention to build a stronger portfolio.


This workshop is suited for students wanting to expand their style as a professional portrait photographer and gain a greater level of confidence both creatively and technically.

Working knowledge of your digital camera, manual exposure controls (Shutter Speed, Aperture, & ISO) and white balance settings will be necessary for students to successfully navigate the practical sections of this course. Students should have basic knowledge of image composition.

 

COURSE AGENDA:

Saturday
10:00am - 12:00pm : Introductions, Weekend Overview and Lecture discussing Portrait styles both technically and creatively
12:00pm - 1:00pm Directing / Posing Demo and Lighting Review - Katie will demonstrate her directing/posing techniques and explain the lighting concepts designed for the afternoon shooting sessions.
2-5pm - Creative Editorial portrait shoot with Business Professionals

Sunday
10-1pm: Shoot 2 - Creative Headshot shoot with Models / Actors
2-5pm: Retouching Demo Critique and Review - Katie demonstrates her technique for retouching faces for magazine and advertising work followed by a critique and feedback session and weekend wrap up.

Cancellation policy

A brand new offering from photoshop guru Steve Pinter on the next steps of interpreting images using intermediate and advanced techniques within Adobe Photoshop.

Whether you use a camera phone, DSLR or medium format camera, once the picture is taken, you need to interpret the image. With the aid of masks and adjustments in Photoshop, learn how to use some simple adjustments to add focus and drama to you pictures. 

Some topics covered throughout the six weeks with Steve are:

* Advanced colour adjustment using curves, masks and layers
* Advanced selection techniques for better masks
* Advanced Image Styling, interpreting the digital negative
* Compositing techniques
* High end beauty retouching
* Preparing to Print
