Project Unpackings provide an in-depth exploration of project design. Julie Ruble will share the story of a project, Project Identity: Spoken Word Performance. Students learned about social identities (race, gender, sexuality, class, and ability) as well as intersectionality. Students analyzed narratives of US history and how people with varying identities experienced daily life differently. Students were inspired by several spoken word artists and created their own poem to spread awareness. This unpacking will introduce the following essential components of project design and will include a rapid practice of project ideation and calendaring. This is an interactive and collaborative workshop and there will be moments for reflection, connection, and collaboration to practice envisioning project components. Project Unpackings welcome educators new to PBL and experienced PBL designers.
