Ryan McCabe was the most loving and treasured husband of Roisin. He was also a son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, but above all, he was the greatest Dad to Cameron, Keir and Jacob. Ryan was also a brave leader. He was held in high regard for the way in which he impacted the recruitment industry by revolutionising the way video tech could be utilised in order to aid the process of recruiting.
Tragically on the 22nd of June, 2024, Ryan lost his life suddenly in a motorbike accident. He was 35 years old.
There are no words to describe the loss felt for someone who lived their life fearlessly, who loved beyond measure, and who gave his time freely and without question. Ryan was the greatest.
To honour Ryan's memory, Run For Ryan is a 10km annual event which can be joined in person, or undertaken virtually from anywhere in the world and all money raised from the event will go to the Ryan McCabe Foundation, where it will then be distributed to multiple charities which Ryan supported.
The in-person Event
The in-person event will take place at Chatelherault Country Park in Hamilton on the 8th of March, 2025 at 11am and will be limited to 300 entrants (please arrive 30-40 minutes early on the day to allow for numbers to be issued and tags to be fitted to shoe laces to record your time).
Upon arrival to the park, please park in the car park on the right. There will be hot drinks and cakes available on the day along with some entertainment for spectators to enjoy. Our meeting point for the start and finish line will be at the Community Hub (Martial Arts Centre) on Carlisle Road, Fernigair.
Goody bags will be handed out on the day at check-in, or can be collected from Braveheart's Boxing Gym following sign up.
The in-person event also has the option for you to enter children into an age-appropriate fun run. This is free of charge. However, please register to allow for adequate planning and note that numbers are limited.
All participants will receive a medal upon completion of the run. Please note that the run can be completed at your own pace so entries of all fitness levels are welcome.
The event is registered with Scottish Athletics:

Volunteers
As with every fundraising event, we rely on the generosity of people to help out in the lead up and on the day. If you wish to join in but don't feel up to doing the run, please select the option to register as a volunteer. Once we have numbers, roles can be allocated in the weeks leading up to the event.
Virtual Runners
For those taking part virtually from anywhere in the world, you will receive a runner's pack through the post.
To allow for time differences, virtual runners will have from Friday the 7th of March until Sunday the 9th to undertake the run.
Please take photos to share on social media and log your 10k on Strava, using the tag @RunforRyan2025.
Sponsors
Run For Ryan 2025 is kindly being sponsored by Odro, Bravehearts Boxing Gym and Greenback Group. 100% of entry fees will go to the Ryan McCabe Foundation. This will provide help and support to charities close to Ryan's heart. Previous charities who Ryan rigorously raised funds for include: Teenage Cancer Trust, MacMillan Cancer Support, Andy's Man Club, Eilidh's Rainbow and Make a Wish Foundation.
T-Shirts
There is the option for any adult entrant to purchase a t-shirt additionally. Orders for these will need to be placed before the 13th of February for the in-person event, and before the 1st of February for virtual runners. T-shirts are true to size and are available in mens and womens.
These will be supplied on the day if pre-ordered, or can be collected from Bravehearts Boxing Gym.
Virtual runners will receive theirs in the post along with their goody pack.
Together, we can unite in rememering one of life's greatest, and live our own lives to the fullest by pushing ourselves further and making memories just like Ryan did.
Vamos!
