Connecticut State Animal Response Team (CTSART)

The PETS Act requires that all communities must provide a method for people to safely evacuate with their pets. This training aims to draw attention to the human-animal bond and its importance in a disaster where citizens might refuse to evacuate without their pets. This class explains the different types of pet shelters and the role that CERT can play in helping EMDs and Animal Control Officers operate these shelters. We also discuss safety issues as it relates to behavior and working with different species.

Please note: All attendees must contact their respective CERT Team leaders and request that a “Approval of  activation of Community Emergency Response Teams Under Title 28 form be completed and forwarded to the DEMHS Regional Coordinator prior to their participation.

*****Cancellation and Registration Policy*****

Please understand that when registering for a limited access course, each registrant reserves a seat away from another potentially interested party.

We understand that everyone is busy and wearing multiple hats during these times, including our instructors.

Respectfully, however, if there is not an immediate and true emergency, we would ask that 24 hours advance notice is provided to our instructors if planning to miss a scheduled event.

This would allow those on a waitlist to be invited to participate in your absence, improves the interactive class experience, and also ensures that our instructors’ time is well spent.
