Learning Objectives: 

The general objective of the event is to advance in the knowledge of obesity as a chronic and complex disease, with multiple symptoms, complications and manifestations. Reinforce the role of weight loss as the path to improvement of these. At the end of the symposium the participants will be able to: 

  • Recgonize obesity as an important disease in Mexico.
  • Discuss the diagnosis of obesity and the initial evaluation of patients.
  • The main principles of the application in the treatment of obesity, including diet, physical activity, behavioral therapy, pharmacotherapy, metabolic and bariatric surgery. 
  • Discuss the safety, tolerance and efficacy of the medications available in Mexico for the chronic treatment of obesity.
  • Describe the indications, safety and efficacy of the bariatric surgical procedures available in Mexico.
  • Recognise physiological factors related to weight recovery after weight loss.
