The statewide NAMI Texas Conference gathers more than 200 mental health experts, people living with mental illness, and supportive friends and family together to learn, share, and heal. Our Awards Gala recognizes the mental health heros from across the state who work to end stigma, increase access to care, promote healing, and show that recovery IS possible!
NAMI Texas leads education, support and advocacy for people living with mental illness through a network of local affiliates in 28 communities across the state. With your help, last year NAMI Texas improved life in Texas for people with mental illness by:
· Educating - 1,300 trained volunteer teachers, facilitators and presenters, all of whom have a lived experience, across the state,
· Supporting - 26,000 people who learned how to live with mental illness and support others through local affiliates’ presentations, workshops and events, and
· Advocating - 32 times our trained advocates (with lived mental health experience) testified during the 85th Texas Legislative session, resulting in all NAMI Texas priority bills that made it to the Governor’s desk becoming law.
