Engage Sport North is partnering with Squash BC to host a Squash Community Coaching Conference at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George over the weekend of September 24-26
The primary objective of the Squash Community Coaching Conference is to support, train and inspire a network of volunteer or part-time Community Coaches who can then champion and grow squash in Northern BC. Participants can be squash players, coaches, physical education teachers, anyone who is passionate about growing the game of squash among adults and juniors in their communities, clubs, schools and anyone who has an interest in developing their skills as a squash coach and their ability to develop programs and activities to engage new and existing squash players.
There will be a mandatory component for all participants to attend Saturday September 25, 2021 from 9 AM to 6 PM, participants will be responsible for providing their own lunches.
Included in the course registration fee is the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Make Ethical Decisions Coaching Module which is a mandatory component of becoming a trained Community Squash Coach. The course date is to be determined as we are waiting to hear back from viaSport for when we can host the course (viaSport usually charges $70 + GST for this course) for the course. As part of the Community Coaching Course all participants will receive a complementary Squash BC Recreational Membership (for more details regarding the recreational membership, please visit the Squash BC website).
Optional Events (included in your registration)
- Friday Night Drop In/Social Meet and Greet - September 24th 7:30PM - 9:30PM, Lessons on how to run an informal social event
- Social Tournament - September 25, 2021 - 7 PM to 10 PM, Lessons on how to run a formal competitive/social event
- Opportunity to be mentored by experienced certified coaches - Sunday June 6 - 9 AM to 12 PM, 2PM - 6PM
If provincial restrictions don't allow the course to take place between September 24th and 26th, 2021, participants will have the opportunity to choose to either receive a refund for the full registration or move your registration to the next course.
Please note that there is a limit of 12 participants for this Squash Community Coaching Conference, and a minimum age requirement of 16 years of age. If you are between the ages of 14 and 16 please contact sportdevelopment@squashbc.com to discuss your options.
