This is a new package devised by the NMC to replace the old MENTOR System – it started in 2019.
What is different?
It now has another layer of support for the student = PRACTICE SUPERVISOR
This role is there to support student and practice Assessor throughout the placement.
You can have many practice supervisors but ONE Practice Assessor.
MENTOR HAS GONE! They are now called PRACTICE ASSESSORS, they remain in charge of the student placement with the support of Practice Supervisors.
What training do I need to do.
It’s very simple.
If you have the old ENB 998 or a mentorship course you just need to access the Conversion course (Session two) – this is a 2 hour course to bring you up to date with the new system .
If you have not trained to be a Mentor before and have no ENB998 or equivalent, you need to access the two sessions – one week apart and complete the online modules to receive a certificate. The two sessions are as follows:
Session one – Practice Supervisor training
One week later
Session two- Practice Assessor Training
Online modules need to be completed prior to both sessions the links will be sent after registration. Please send them to the trainer as evidence of completion, if not there will be no certificate sent.
