Corporate Sherpas - Strengthening the leadership capacity of the support givers
(November 2, 9, 16 and 23)
In the realm of disability support, it becomes essential for support givers to cultivate their adaptive leadership capacity. The distinctive nature of disability support brings forth both emotional and physical demands on the care givers. It requires support givers to think creatively, adjust support strategies on the fly, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Therefore, support givers need to effectively lead themselves in addition to others. By developing their adaptive leadership skills, disability support givers better navigate uncertainty, promote inclusivity, turn up physically and emotionally fit and ultimately empower those they assist in leading lives that are more self-directed. In doing so, they contribute to the cultivation of a society characterised by equity, empathy, and a holistic understanding of the needs of individuals with disabilities.
