Hope for Tomorrow Counseling is pleased to present the first in a year long series of educational programs: Substance Use Disorder Awareness for Helpers.

This one and one half hour long program will provide people with a basic understanding of addiction. This training may be very beneficial for volunteers or employed staff who encounter addiction in their helping role.  There will be a pre and post test, a post-program evaluation and a certificate of attendance. There will be handouts to keep for reference and an opportunity for a question and answer session.

 Topics addressed include:

  1. What are substances of abuse and how do people become addicted?
  2. How do you approach someone who has a substance problem?
  3. What types of help are available to assist in obtaining and maintaining sobriety?
  4. How can I better recognize signs of a substance problem and address them?
