Hope for Tomorrow Counseling is pleased to present the: Substance Use Disorder Awareness for Helpers.
This training is specifically designed for HFT counselors and guests. Masks will be required (regardless of vaccination status) and social distancing will be practiced when possible.
This one and one half hour long program will provide people with a basic understanding of addiction. This training may be very beneficial for volunteers or employed staff who encounter addiction in their helping role. There will be a pre and post test, a post-program evaluation and a certificate of attendance. There will be handouts to keep for reference and an opportunity for a question and answer session.
Topics addressed include:
- What are substances of abuse and how do people become addicted?
- How do you approach someone who has a substance problem?
- What types of help are available to assist in obtaining and maintaining sobriety?
- How can I better recognize signs of a substance problem and address them?
