PaddleLife is excited to announce that Kenny Rice is heading to Pittsfield this summer!
Join Kenny for a afternoon of Surfski learning and fun! Please get Wednesday the 24th July 2019 into your diaries and don't miss out!
Kenny Rice needs little introduction to anyone who has followed the world and results of international Surfski racing over the past 4 years. Kenny is from Cape Town, South Africa and renowned for his downwind and surf skills as well as a tenatious will to win. These have all helped Kenny to win back to back Gorge Downwind festivals against all of the best in the business, as well as many podium finishes at the Perth Doctor, Cape Point Challenge and many other national and World Championship titles across Surfski and marathon kayak. Kenny leads a group of international 'young gun' paddlers who are taking charge at many of the worlds most prestigious races. Kenny's tough as nails attitude in the race boat is contrasted by a kind, and happy go lucky persona on land and during his teaching. You'll be sure to be laughing with him in minutes and you are guaranteed to learn from the wealth of knowledge that Kenny will pass along to you! Kenny is excited to visit Pittsfield for his first trip to the area and looks forward to giving away some of his secrets and stories about how he achieves his best!
Wednesday afternoons workshop is aimed at those paddlers who are wanting to take their paddling to the next level! You might have a certain goal in mind or simply want to get some refined tips of what it will take you to improve. This is the best chance of getting advice from one of the best in the business. The workshop will consist of some land-based theory and plenty of water-based drills for practice. If you are an intermediate or advanced level paddler, then this is an excellent opportunity for you! Each paddler will come away from the lesson with a whole new field of knowledge and will experience an unforgettable time with one of the best in the sport.

This lesson will cover some of the more basic fundamental skills and techniques as a sort of 'refresher course' so that Kenny can jump straight into the other more complex topics that we have you all interested in when he arrives. This will maximize the time we get to spend together! Let's call this a good old 2 for 1 deal! Isn't that just great!? You'll love this! Big thanks to Joe!!
To help with planning for this, we ask that all paddlers who would like to join into the FREE additional seminar register ASAP!
This opportunity is not to be missed!
We welcome all sea kayakers, OC paddlers, white water, marathon and sprint kayakers too! You can participate in which ever craft you choose and you might be surprised by how many of the principles/techniques coached can be transfered directly between sports.
PaddleLife prides itself on offering the highest-quality learning experience. For this reason, we keep the group numbers very limited to allow for lots of personal attention for each paddler from Kenny. All paddlers will walk away from the lesson with a comprehensive understanding of the sport and with advice or improvement techniques specific to them.
A big thank you to Joe Shaw for the help in organizing this event! Please check out his FaceBook page at https://www.facebook.com/westernmasspaddlers/
We look forward to seeing you there!
Please note:
Safety - Please bring along a PFD or let us know if you need to borrow one.
Please bring your own surfski and paddle (If you do not have these, please contact us and we will see what we can do to get you some!)
