CHRISTIAN CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER
Friday, October 1st  - Friday, October 3rd  2021

All too often in modern writings the term "contemplative prayer" is used narrowly ( and misleadingly!) as way of decribing imageless, wordless experience of God. In this workshop we will expand our understanding of contemplatin, drawing from the richness of the Benedictine monastic tradition of "kataphatic", that is , richly varied, image - filled forms of contemplation: such as liturgical prayer, lectio divina, conemplalative exegesis, and monologistic (short- phrase) prayer.

Fr. Luke Dysinger has been a monk of Valyermo since 1976. He is a priest and a physician who writes and teaches in the fields of mystical theology and biomedical ethics. He received a D.Phil. in patristics at Oxford University and is professor of church history and moral theology at St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, CA.
