TRE Advanced Day: Using Touch as an Intervention in TRE

Date: Thursday 13 Jul 2017, 9.30-5.30pm

Tutor: Steve Haines

Venue: BSS-Do, Unit 3, Thane Works, Thane Villas, Finsbury Park, London, N7 7NU

Steve Haines has been working in healthcare for over 25 years and as a bodyworker since 1998. He is the co-author of 'Cranial Intelligence' and author of the short graphic books 'Pain Is Really Strange' and 'Trauma Is Really Strange'. Understanding the science of pain and trauma has transformed his approach to healing.

Touch is a fundamental human experience. Safe, skillful, gentle touch can be incredibly useful in TRE. This supervision day will look at simple, effective ways of using touch to enhance safety and embodiment in TRE.

We will look at using light, gentle contact to help someone ground into their body. We will explore how to negotiate touch such that your client feels safe. Touch can really enhance our sense of self. When done well is quickly transformative. Touch frequently allows you to sidestep the intellect and create a powerful sense of relationship and support.

Self touch, so the client holding themselves, touching over the client’s hand, getting the client to reach towards you to grab or squeeze your hand are great starting places for changing activity in the body. Touch over or under areas that are blocked and not moving, stroking down limbs, and supporting a sense of weight in the feet are progressive interventions in the field of using touch. We look at the lessons from craniosacral therapy on the art of non-invasive touch.

TRE Advanced Days

The goal of advanced days is to help you deepen into your practice and understanding of TRE. They are open to anyone who has attended a 3 day TRE Module 1 course or has a strong TRE self practice.

Each day will be a mix of personal practice of TRE, lectures on associated theory, discussion of your own responses to TRE and observing and supporting others through the TRE process.

Each day is a stand alone workshop, so you can attend any single day.

Attending one supervision day can count as one personal supervision session (to be agreed with your supervisor) towards your Certified TRE Provider accreditation.
