Who’s Watching Whom?  Strategies for Cyberspace

Barbara Healy Smith (OGC) and Mark Nardone (OIS)

August 2, 2017 from 12-1pm in Shillman, Room 305

How do we know whether anything is private on the Internet?  We’ve all seen and heard about recent phishing and ransomware schemes, and there are almost constant news stories about hacks and data mining.  So how can you protect your data at home and at work? How can you avoid becoming a victim of increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks?   How can you know if someone is selling your personal information and preferences?  This course is designed to increase your awareness of the potential threats and vulnerabilities associated with using information systems.  It will provide some privacy basics, as well as tools to help protect your and the University’s data.
