Self-Preservation and Self-Care for Helping Professionals
Thursday, October 12, 2017 | 7:00 to 8:30 PM
Details
How can we realistically evaluate the risks that may arise in the course of trying to help people? What are the specific concerns associated with initial interviews, referrals, ongoing treatment, and termination?
What emotional vulnerabilities in therapists and other helping professionals may interfere with their ability to recognize when they are facing risks (1) to their physical safety in some cases and (2) to their emotional well-being?
In this workshop we will discuss and share specific suggestions for promoting self-awareness, self-protection, self-care, and long-term well-being in those involved in treating people with emotional and behavioral problems.
