City of God Fall 2016 - The Mystery Of The Gospel

In Ephesians 1 Paul tells us in a praise saturated passage, that we as Christians have been blessed by God with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.  It is a wonderful and encouraging word from the Lord, but it comes with an important qualifier, namely, that we have this fullness of blessing “in Christ,” that is, in our union with Him.  Union with Christ is the sum, substance, and center of every benefit and blessing the Christian experiences.  In his death, Resurrection, and ascension, we have received an eternal and abiding inheritance that we are already beginning to experience by the Spirit in our new birth, faith, justification and sanctification all of which flow from this union alone.

The evening begins at 7pm with hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and wine followed by our featured lecture just after 8pm.  Following the lecture there will be a 15 minute intermission during which time guests may grab some coffee and desserts as they reflect on the evenings topic.  We will then reconvene for a brief time of Q and A with our speaker led by Bill Spanjer.  All guests are welcomed to stay and fellowship afterwards as long as they would like to.
