Welcome to Elder Concert, a statewide multidisciplinary elder care conference. In the 18 years since Elder Concert began its annual program, thousands of elder care professionals, from different elder care disciplines, have met and learned together annually, each rounding out his or her contacts and education in the field. I created Elder Concert based on my recognition that each elder care discipline has its own special instruments for bettering the lives of Florida’s elderly and it is getting these instruments to play well together that creates great results—a concert, if you will.
Elder Concert brings together geriatric care managers, Elder Law attorneys, professional guardians, accountants, social service agencies, social workers, facility administrators, health care providers, government employees, financial advisors and other professionals important to the quality of life of Florida’s seniors. Our goal is a truly interactive learning and networking experience. There are no “talking heads,” but instead expertly facilitated and openly interactive sessions for dynamic and effective adult learning. In this way, each profession is learning from the other professions and meaningful relationships are solidified or formed.
The Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys (AFELA) is the founding organization of Elder Concert. From the beginning, we allied with other leading elder care organizations such as the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar, Florida State Guardianship Association, Alzheimer’s Community Care, Florida Geriatric Care Managers/Aging Life Care Association, Florida Department of Elder Affairs, The University of South Florida and The Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University.
